You’ve probably dreamed of that exciting day when you receive your anxiously-awaited acceptance letter to your dream college. Perhaps you’ve even amassed a collection of sweatshirts, hats, and other college gear which you proudly wear to signal your educational aspirations.

What if you had a shot at a full-ride scholarship to that school?

The Questbridge National College Match Program makes that dream a reality for select students across the U.S. As many of our students apply to become “Questbridge Scholars” each year, we want to share with you what Questbridge entails and the benefits of applying to colleges through this program.

Overview

Questbridge is a college and scholarship application process that helps secure college admission and tuition for low-income high school seniors with strong academic achievements. Currently, the Questbridge program is partnered with 40 of the nation’s top colleges, among them a number of Ivy Leagues including Brown, Yale, UPenn, Princeton, Columbia, and Dartmouth. You can view a complete list of partnering colleges here. Students who are successfully “matched” with a college will receive a scholarship covering the full cost of tuition, room, and board at that college.

How does the process work?

Students first submit an application to the Questbridge program. If accepted as a finalist, students must submit their applications by November 1 to each of the partner schools they ranked on their Questbridge college list (up to twelve) for consideration in the Early Decision/Early Action round of application reviews. Finalists can only “match” with one out of twelve schools on their list — this decision is made collaboratively by admissions representatives from the schools and the Questbridge program.
Note that NOT all finalists will match. Finalists who do not match with a partner college can still apply to any of the Questbridge partners in the Regular Decision applicant pool (including the twelve they ranked initially) — with the benefit of waived application fees and the distinction of the “Questbridge Finalist” designation. If admitted to any of the partner colleges during the Regular Decision round, finalists receive more generous financial aid packages — so if you are a finalist who has not been matched, don’t despair! You’ll still have an advantage in the college application process.
